Initial Assessment & Fixturing Design
Precision grinding starts with a comprehensive evaluation of the part’s material, geometry, and critical dimensions. Our surface grinder’s magnetic table provides exceptional stability for magnetic parts, ensuring precision and repeatability. For non-magnetic materials or complex shapes, we design custom fixturing solutions to achieve consistent and accurate results.
Precision Surface Grinding
Using our Kent KGS-616S surface grinder with AcuRite DRO with a magnetic table, we achieve tight tolerances and smooth finishes that meet the demands of aerospace, medical, and industrial applications. Our process ensures optimal performance by reducing wear, enhancing durability, and improving component fit and function.
Profilometer Verification & Finishing
We verify surface finishes with a profilometer to meet the required specifications. We offer in-house lapping and polishing for components that demand ultra-smooth surfaces, delivering finishes as fine as 4-8 microinches, depending on part size.
Final Inspection & Quality Assurance

Case Study
OD Arbor Grinding
One of our customers needed a tight tolerance arbor to hold their part for manufacturing. We needed to hold the diameter of this part to ±.0001. This is very achievable with our Spin Indexer however the problem was these arbors also needed to be plated. Initial plating tolerances were stated to be .0001-.0002 thus growing the diameter .0002-.0004. Therefore the plating company was going to take up the entire tolerance of the final part after plating. We worked with the platers to ensure they could hold a tolerance of .0001-.00015 therefore allowing us to grind the diameter to .00025 ± .00005 undersized.
That’s plus or minus 50 millionths of an inch.
With precision fixturing, careful execution and process control we were able to deliver the part within these tight tolerances.
